About us

Who are Newman Sixth?

At Newman Sixth, we place students at the heart of everything that we do, and pride ourselves on our close-knit community where every student is made to feel valued and celebrated.

We are an inclusive Sixth Form with 300 students on role, which means that we are able to offer small class sizes and outstanding personalised pastoral care. We ensure that students have no barriers to their learning and inspire them through our comprehensive super-curricular programme to reach their true potential.

Our students have excellent rapport with their teachers and tutors, and model respect and kindness at all times. As a testament to our strong community, many of our students keep in touch as alumni, and come back to Newman Sixth every year to support, advise and encourage our new cohort of students as they journey through their A-levels.

Why study at Newman Sixth?

Newman Sixth is the top provider of KS5 education in Luton; we have the highest points per A-level, and the best retention rates across the borough. We achieve excellent results that empower our students to secure aspirational destinations.

In 2022, over 80% of our students went on to secure their place at University with a quarter of those progressing to universities ranked in the top third of universities in the UK, including the University of Cambridge, UCL, and Imperial College London.

We have a very strong Oxbridge and 'Into Medicine' programme that provides weekly mentoring, high-order thinking tasks, and mock interviews to prepare students for ambitious careers.

Our careers programme also provides comprehensive support to students who want to explore alternative post-eighteen destinations, and in 2022 we were proud that 10% of our cohort secured Degree-level apprenticeships at renowned businesses across the country; this percentage is set to increase again this year.

We offer a wide range of A-level subjects alongside a number of vocational courses. This is alongside our personal development, and character curriculum which together ensure that students are prepared for the ever-changing world beyond our doors. These curriculums allow us to nurture and challenge every student so that they have the confidence to soar.

We are proud of our diverse community and the compassion that every student has for each other. Every year we accept a number of external students from many different faiths and this allows our students to remain continuously curious and open to the perspectives of others.
