URGENT - PARKING AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY

PARKING AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY

On the first day back parking by our parents blocked a fire engine on an emergency call.  Parking by too many parents is both dangerous and inconsiderate of our neighbours, pedestrians and other road users.  I was somewhat appalled to be moving traffic so an emergency vehicle could make its way to an emergency call out.

If you are collecting your child:

  1. You cannot park on the school site at the end of the school day unless you have a blue badge and it is a genuine emergency.  Staff on the gate will turn you away.  You must wait until after 3:50pm.
  2. You are encouraged not to park on Warden Hill Rd at any point at the end of the school day.  If you feel you must collect your child from the school gate, please park away from the school and walk to the gate.
  3. You are encouraged to collect your child from 3:50pm outside reception.  They can wait outside reception in complete safety and you can drive through the school grounds to collect them away from the traffic.

Last year there was one road traffic accident immediately outside the school.  Those parking so close to the school – often on pavements or double yellow lines - make it difficult to see the students as they cross the road and make it more likely there will be a nasty accident one day.  Moreover, those who collect their child immediately at the end of the school day are often simply left queuing in traffic, gaining nothing in the process.

I am sorry to be so abrupt about this situation, but I feel I must be direct where the safety of our children is at hand.

Mr Richardson
