Personal Development
At Cardinal Newman School, Personal Development is central to our mission: “Learning towards our Lord, through Learning, Love and Faith.” We are committed to developing the whole child—academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally—so that every pupil grows in character, faith and purpose.
Rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ, our approach is shaped by Catholic Social Teaching, promoting dignity, compassion, service and care for creation. The Fruits of the Holy Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control—guide pupils in their relationships and daily choices.
Personal Development is woven through all aspects of school life, including the curriculum, Religious Education, collective worship and enrichment opportunities. Pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence, while learning to respect others, make responsible decisions and contribute positively to their communities.
We prepare pupils for life in modern Britain and the wider world by promoting respect, equality and active citizenship. Through this, they grow in aspiration, discover their talents and understand how to use their gifts in service of others.
Our aim is that every pupil leaves Cardinal Newman School with a strong sense of identity, belonging and faith—ready to flourish and live out Gospel values in all that they do.
